Teddy hibernation

We learnt about hibernation, why animals hibernate and what they need when they are hibernating. We handled a block of ice that had food frozen inside and discussed how difficult it might be to get the food out and why animals therefore need to hibernate. We then brought our teddies into school and set about making hibernation shelters for them, carefully considering how to make them feel safe, warm and providing them with a little food in case they wake up. Finally, we shared a feast with our teddies to make sure they were full up and had fat reserves for their winter hibernation.
