A very warm welcome to Hennock Primary School.
We are a small, flourishing school of fewer than 60 pupils, proudly situated on the edge of Dartmoor in the beautiful Teign Valley. Our size is one of our greatest strengths: it allows us to truly know every child as an individual, nurture their talents and ensure that each one thrives both academically and personally.
We are incredibly proud of the caring, inclusive and ambitious learning community we have built. Our children benefit from a rich and engaging curriculum, strong relationships with staff, and a nurturing environment where they feel safe, valued and inspired to succeed.
Life at Hennock
Our mixed-age classes bring children together, creating opportunities for friendships, mentoring and shared learning across year groups:
- Saplings – our Pre-School
- Willows – Reception, Year 1 and Year 2
- Birch – Years 3 and 4
- Ash – Years 5 and 6
This approach builds a strong sense of community and helps children develop confidence, independence and leadership as they learn and grow together.
Outdoor Learning & Forest School
Outdoor learning is at the heart of life at Hennock. Every child benefits from our well-established Forest School programme, accessing regular sessions throughout the year in our bespoke woodland setting, led by a trained Forest School practitioner.
Our woodland environment provides a unique and inspiring space where children can:
- Build confidence and resilience
- Develop teamwork and problem-solving skills
- Connect with nature and the wider world
- Learn through exploration, creativity and challenge
We believe these experiences are invaluable in supporting children’s wellbeing and enriching their learning.
